Celtic Dog Boxes and Plaques

My love of dogs and early Celtic art influenced the design of these wooden keepsake boxes and plaques. A hunter's spear has a heart knot representing devotion and love. Choose a keepsake box to guard your little treasures, or a decorative plaque for a unique gift for the dog lover.

Certain animals in Celtic mythology were believed to possess special powers. Dogs were associated with healing, their saliva thought to have curative powers. Dogs represent tracking skills, the ability to scent a trail and companionship. These faithful protectors were the Celtic animal symbol of loyalty, devotion and unwavering faith and love.
The design was first burned into the wood and glazed with acrylic paints. A protective lacquer was then applied to protect and enhance the natural wood.
