Flora and Fauna Hand Painted Gifts
I have painted some of “my backyard” onto wood boxes, trays and plaques to bring a little of the countryside in. Click on the links below to find original pyrographic and hand painted designs. Artwork that is affordable, functional and looks good in any room. I hope you enjoy them.
Brought up in a city in the North West of England I was fortunate to have lived where suburb bordered farmland with beautiful city parks to visit. Later, living in different counties around the country I saw a variety of animals in their natural habitat. I especially loved the foxes in Cheshire, the hares (big as small dogs) racing across the Cumbrian fells and the birdlife from every corner of Britain.
Now I reside in “The Mitten” as the Americans affectionately call Michigan, I have a whole new variety
of flora and fauna in my backyard to enjoy. From the deer, racoons, groundhogs, chipmunks, coyotes and squirrels
that visit, to the vividly attired birds, I never tire of watching their antics.

The Fox
The fox is the subject of many a folk tale renowned for its cunning and ability to “out-fox” the hounds of the hunt.
Dolphins
Dolphins, a species of the toothed whales, are found in all the oceans and some rivers. They are beautiful mammals that are a joy to see swim free.
Inspired by early artwork found on Crete I have painted designs of dolphins onto wooden boxes and plaques, memories of the Mediterranean for you to enjoy.
The Hare
A shy creature, the hare is not such a common sight as it once was in Britain.
But early morning, they can still be seen on the northern fells and pastures.
The Frog
The common frog in Britain has smooth, moist skin mottled in shades of green, yellow or brown.
The Squirrel
Whether thinking of Autumn in Britain, or “Fall” in America, one cannot help but call to mind visions of bushy tailed squirrels gathering nuts amongst the fallen leaves. Whether watching them in parks, woodland or in my backyard, their antics never fail to make me smile. Hopefully these small wood boxes will make you smile, every time you use them to “squirrel away” your own cache of little goodies!
The Cat - Hand Painted Boxes
Decorative wooden boxes hand painted with cat designs make a charming home to store all those bits and bobs that look untidy left out.The domestic cat is just a little bit of wild. A companion but not one to fetch your slippers like our canine friends! These pussies though will protect your trinkets and keep them safe.
Flowers
In Britain or America I am always delighted at the variety of plants and wildflowers that exist whether in cultivated field, downs, woodland or shoreline. Sadly we may have to be quick to appreciate them, before they become extinct, as more of the natural world is lost to development. I have hand painted flower designs onto small wood boxes for you to keep when the blooms fade.
