Flora and Fauna Hand Painted Gifts
You will find my backyard is huge! Encompassing the North West of England where I grew up and my new home in Michigan. I have loved all my backyard visitors; from foxes in Cheshire and hares as big as dogs in Cumbria to the deer and racoons that visit here.
I have painted some of “my backyard” onto wooden boxes, trays and plaques to bring a little of the outdoors in! Click on the images below to find artwork that is affordable, functional and looks good in any room. I hope you enjoy them.
The Fox
The fox is the subject of many a folk tale renowned for its cunning and ability to “out-fox” the hounds of the hunt. Mostly active at night, they are resourceful at foraging for food in both countryside and town.
Dolphins
Inspired by early artwork found on Crete I have painted designs of dolphins onto wooden boxes and plaques, memories of the Mediterranean for you to enjoy.
The Hare
A shy creature, the hare is not such a common sight as it once was in Britain. But early morning, they can still be seen on the northern fells and pastures. At certain times you may catch them “boxing!”
The Bear
Many stories surround the bear on most continents from early times. To see my story of two black bears painted on a beautiful bear jewelry box click on the image. On the page you can read some of the myths surrounding Ursa Major, the Great Bear.
The Frog
The common frog in Britain has smooth, moist skin mottled in shades of green, yellow or brown. Up to now there have been no confirmed reports of tall dark, handsome ones wearing a crown.
The Squirrel
Whether thinking of Autumn in Britain, or “Fall” in America, one cannot help but smile at the antics squirrels get up to hiding food. Hopefully these small wood boxes will make you smile, every time you use them to “squirrel away” your own cache of little goodies!
The Cat
The domestic cat is just a little bit of wild, a companion but not one to fetch your slippers like our canine friends! However these pussies will keep the lid on your trinkets and keep them safe.
