The Stag

The stag a symbol of growth, often a messenger and guide from other worlds was associated with Cernnunos, horned god of nature and hunting.
The deer represented grace, swiftness and gentleness. Celts believed it to be the oldest creature in existence.
On the box and plaque are painted raspberries, or hind-berries as they were named in the north of England in earlier centuries. So named after the female deer that grazed on the woodland berries. The stag boxes would be a suitable jewelry box for a man wanting to keep track of all those small things easily lost.
